Keep Your Eyes Stamp2Cut Tag

I really wanted to post a new post today, but I am so swamped juggling some deadlines while fighting an ugly headache that I just don't have a full blown post in me.  Instead I thought I would post a tag that I haven't shared before that doesn't need much explanation.  The tag features the famed Umbrella Man stamped and cut with the Sizzix eclips Stamp2Cut. 

A first for me, a nearly wordless blog post.  No supplies, no descriptions, just pictures.  I hope you don't mind!

Eiffel Tower Tim Holtz Sizzix Stamp2Cut Tag

Hello!  Happy April!  April is my absolute favorite month of the year and I am always so happy to see it arrive!  This year, after an especially busy March I am super happy to see April arrive.  After finishing up a few top secret projects (some that aren't top secret any longer) I am finally getting back into my normal pace with projects on my work table and posts for my blog.

Today I want to share with you a project I created using the Tim Holtz Stamp2Cut system for the Sizzix eclips machine.  If you don't have an eclips you can duplicate this tag by hand cutting the elements.  Trust me though, once you use an eclips with Stamp2Cut, you will never want to hand cut again!

I have a mad love for the Eiffel Tower and hope to visit there some day.  This Eiffel Tower stamp from the Tim Holtz I See Paris stamp set is a personal favorite.  I was really excited when I saw that it was included on the Stamp2Cut 1 cartridge.

To create my tag base, I inked the map stamp from the Road Trip stamp set using Walnut Ink Distress Stain.  After drying the ink with a heat tool, wrinkled the tag to create some creases and texture.  I added Walnut Stain Distress Ink to the edges using an ink blending tool.

I streaked  Tumbled Glass Distress Stain on a piece of smooth white cardstock.  I used a heat tool to dry the paper.  I stamped the Eiffel Tower stamp image on the stained paper using Coffee Archival Ink.  

After the ink was dry, I misted over the paper with Turquoise Perfect Pearls Mist.  I dried the paper again and cut it out along the edge of the image and then added Walnut Stain Distress Ink to the edges with an ink blending tool.

I stamped the image again on smooth white cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink.  I misted the image with Pewter Perfect Pearls Mist.  After drying the image, I used the eclips machine and Stamp2Cut to cut out the Eiffel Tower from the larger stamped image.  I adhered the cut out piece over the Eiffell Tower on the first piece.  I shaped the piece so that it would not lay flat and adhered it to the tag slightly tilted and off center.

I colored a piece of Crinkle Ribbon with Tumbled Glass Distress Stain.  I misted the ribbon with water to blend the color.  After crinkling and drying the ribbon, I misted it again with Pewter Perfect Pearls Mist.  I crinkled and dried the ribbon again.  Using the brown ink that was already on my blending tool foam, I lightly tapped the ribbon randomly with the tool to add some brown coloring for age.  

I wrapped the ribbon around the center of the tag and tied it off in a knot on the left side.

To create the tickets pinned to the ribbon, I stamped the image of the large block of tickets on manila cardstock.  I cut all of the tickets out using Stamp2Cut.  This image cut with Stamp2Cut is quickly becoming one of my favorites because I can quickly cut a whole group of tickets to save to use on various projects.  After cutting my tickets, I found two that I wanted to use (one that says St. Louis! and one that says Paris) and inked them using the ink already on the foam of my red ink blending tool.  (I have one tool for each color group so that I don't have to change out the foam when I switch colors.)

After cutting out and inking the tickets, I misted them with Sunflower Perfect Pearls Mist.  I wanted them to have a slightly golden look.  (Someday I will have the golden tickets from St. Louis to Paris. . .)  I dried the tickets and wrinkled them slightly to add some texture.  I finished them by adding Walnut Stain Distress Ink to the edges with an ink blending tool.

The final step was to pin the tickets to the tag!

The Collins Group Event March 24-25

This is a quick peek at the class I will be teaching that features the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Stamp2Cut cartridges.  I combined the sweet little Stamp2Cut girlie with a mini book made from the new Vintage Card Making collection coming out this summer.

Have a Royal Day Stamp2Cut Tag

Today I am sharing a tag I created using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Stamp2Cut for the eclips machine along with the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Royal Script stamp set.

I applied streaks of Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick, and Barn Door Distress Stains to a #8 manila tag.  While the stains were still wet, I added streaks of Picket Fence Distress Stain over the other colors.  I misted the tag with water to blend the colors and blotted the surface lightly with a dry towel.  I dried the tag and misted over it with Pewter Perfect Pearls Mist.

After drying the tag again, I stamped the script stamp onto my tag using Black Soot Distress Ink.  I also blended Black Soot around the edges of the tag.

I stamped the wings and two crowns on white stamping paper using Jet Black Archival Ink.  I cut the wings and one crown out using the eclips and Stamp2Cut.  I cut the second crown out using the pieces feature (the lower part of the crown and the Fleur-de-lis at the top).

After cutting the pieces out, I colored them using Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress Stains.  After drying the pieces, I misted them with Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearls Mist.  I dried the pieces and added a light edging of Walnut Stain Distress Ink to the edges.  I dried the pieces again and applied Distress Embossing Ink over the entire surface of both pieces.  After applying clear embossing powder to the ink, I melted the powder using a heat tool.

I adhered the wings to the tag first.  I adhered the full crown over the wings using adhesive foam squares.  I adhered the Fleur-de-lis to the tip of the crown using a small sliver of a Zots adhesive dot.  To adhere the lower part of the crown, I placed an adhesive foam square in the center and quick drying glue to the sides to that they would adhere to the base crown below.  I added a small dot of Barn Door Distress Stickles to the jeweled areas on the front of the crown.

To finish the tag, I added a Tattered Banner cut from manila cardstock.  I colored the cardstock with Antique Linen and Old Paper Distress Stains.  After drying the stain, I edged the banner with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and added a phrase with my trusty old Hero Arts Printer's Type LC alphabet stamps and Jet Black Archival Ink.  I adhered the banner with a strip of adhesive foam and a Tiny Attacher

Super Cute Stamp2Cut Tag

Sing Your Heart Songs Stamp2Cut Tag

When I say that I had a blast making tags with the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Stamp2Cut cartridges for the eclips machine, I really mean it.  I made some of my absolute most favorite tags ever using the eclips and the cartridges.  This tag is one of my very, very favorites.  This little girlie totally makes me smile.

One of the things that I love about the Stamp2Cut is the ease with which I can cut the same image multiple times so that I can add layers and dimension to my projects.  For this tag, I stamped and cut two copies of the background image (the diamond pattern) and three of the girlie.

On the diamond pattern, the dark diamonds in the background are the same parts of the stamp as what you see on top in pink.  After stamping and cutting the back piece (cut so that it just cut the outer outline) I applied Peeled Paint Distress Stain.  I cut the second diamond image so that it cut away the inner plain diamonds.  I applied Tattered Rose Distress Stain to the remaining solid diamonds.

I placed the pink diamonds over the green, matching them up but off setting them slightly.  I then misted over both with Mint Perfect Pearls Mist.  I dried both pieces and then adhered the green diamond piece to my black tag.  I took the pink diamond piece and turned it so that the top of the piece was aligned with the bottom edge of the green diamond piece.  This offset the pink diamonds from the green, creating an argyle pattern.  I then adhered the pink diamonds in place.  I finished the background by machine sewing the edges of the pink diamonds.

The first layer of the girl was an outlined cut of the girl just as she was stamped.  I applied Antique Linen Distress Stain to her wings.  After drying the stain, I misted the wings with Perfect Pearl Perfect Pearls Mist.  I dried the mist and then applied Vintage Photo Distress Ink the the edges of the wing.

On the second cut, I cut out just the girl (no wings or crown).  I used a water brush and Distress Stain to add color to her body and clothes.  I added Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges to add some age and definition.  I adhered the girl to the first piece that had the wings.  This creates the illusion that the wings are behind her body.  

On the third cut, I cut the crown and words.  I again colored those pieces with Distress Stain and inked the edges with Vintage Photo.  Once the pieces were dry, I adhered them on top of the girl.  I used Gold Pearl Liquid Pearls to add gold points to her crown.

I die cut a heart from grunge paper to give the girl something to hold in her hand.  I added color with Barn Door and Aged Mahogany Distress Stains.  After drying the stain, I stamped a sheet music image on the heart with Jet Black Archival Ink and brushed the edges of the heart with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I adhered the heart to the hand and then adhered the whole assembled piece to the front of the tag with adhesive foam squares.

To finish off the tag, I died crinkle ribbon with Antique Linen, Spun Sugar, and Tattered Rose Distress Stains.  After drying and crinkling the ribbon, I tapped the surface of the ribbon randomly with my ink blending tool transferring residual brown distress ink from the foam pad to the ribbon.

To adhere the ribbon, I placed a thin line of Super Tape along the bottom and top edges of the diamond pattern.  I laid the crinkled ribbon loosely on top of it without smoothing out the wrinkles.  I pressed the ribbon into the tape to hold it in place and then sewed a line through it.  I love that it has that crinkled and ruched look despite being sewn.

Point of View Stamp2Cut Tag

I was super thrilled to use the new Tim Holtz Stamp2Cut cartridges for my eclips machine to create CHA samples.  I have always been pretty good at cutting detailed images out with a craft knife and scissors, but let me tell you, there is no way I could ever begin to cut images out the way Stamp2Cut cuts them.  It is seriously amazing!

For this tag, I began by applying Picket Fence Distress Stain to the front of the tag.  After drying the stain, I stamp the eye image using Black Soot Distress Ink.  While the ink was still wet, I added clear embossing powder to the eye and heated it to melt the powder. I used an embossing ink pen to fill in any areas that were not covered by embossing powder and then added and melted more powder until the eye was completely covered.  I wanted to keep any background ink out of the eye image so I used the embossing powder as a mask.   

I then stamped my phrase using Faded Jeans Distress Ink and again added clear embossing powder to the ink.  After the melted embossing powder was cool, I inked the eye chart stamp using Brushed Corduroy Distress Stain.  I love the very fluid and imperfect look stamping with the stains creates.

Normally I dry any Distress Stain that I stamp with, but this time I let it air dry.  It was kind of by accident but I love the effect of what happened. . . I began adding color to the background by adding Distress Ink (Old Paper, Antique Linen, and Vintage Photo) with a blending tool in straight swipes from top to bottom.  When I passed through the stamped stain, the portions that were wet moved along with my blending tool, adding to the faded look.

I finished adding color to the background by adding Faded Jeans Distress Ink to the edges of the tags.  In addition to blending it on the edges, I also drug some down onto the tag slightly.

To add color to the eye I first had to remove the embossing powder.  I placed my tag between sheets of news print and ironed the tag with a clothes iron (without steam).  The embossing powder re-melts and transfers onto the news print.  I moved the tag several times to clean areas of paper and repeated the ironing process until all of the embossing was removed.

I then added color to the eye by using a water brush to paint on Distress Ink like water color paints.

To create the spectacles, I cut several layers of the stamped image using my eclips machine with the Stamp2Cut cartridge that matches this stamp.  I cut one base of manila cardstock.  I cut one layer of Shrink Plastic (I used the cut out lenses and saved the frame part of the image for a charm for another project).  I applied foil tape to manila cardstock stamped the image on the foil using Staz-on ink.  I cut two layers from the foil/cardstock.

I assembled the layers together and placed them on the tag with foam tape to raise them up off of the surface.  I absolutely love how this tag turned out!  It  I love how the detailed cut of the Stamp2Cut pieces make it so dimensional and unique.
