I am so excited about this bag! I have been picturing it in my head for so long and finally got to start it a couple of weeks ago. I then had to set it aside for a couple of orders. I finally got back to it and finished it up. I love how it turned out!
I used one of my ribbonwork poppies on this bag and combined it with a trailing stem of hand dyed silk cording and ribbonwork leaves.
The flower center is filled with pink and cream vintage stamens and Swarovski crystals on wire stems.
The stem trails around to the back of the bag with two more leaves.
Next up on my desk, a guest book. . . if it comes out like I see it in my mind, I think it will be amazing! Stay tuned!
Is a day well spent.
I spent a good part of the day yesterday working on a new bridal bag. I have been picturing this bag in my mind for a few weeks now and have been waiting on a few supplies to start on it. It includes two of my ribbonwork poppies, one regular sized and one in a mini size. It has hand dyed silk cording curling down and around the back of the bag.
The flowers have vintage flower stamens in the center along with Swarovski crystals. There are bead clusters all along the stems.
Once it is finished it will have a drawstring top with double faced satin ribbon pulls. Once it is added to the shop, it will be available in all of the ribbon colors I offer as well as in different fabrics.
Stay tuned for an image of the finished product soon!
I have been so busy lately that I have really neglected posting on the blog here. I decided recently that the site needed a major overhaul, something simpler behind the scenes and that I could do it myself fairly easily and quickly. HA! The project ended up being a little more time consuming than I thought. Add in that I decided to do this while prepping for my first ever craft show and well. . .
On the bright side though, I think the site overhaul is looking pretty good. I have a few more photos to add and a few more tweeks, but otherwise it is almost done and I think, looking pretty good.
I have made a few new things lately that I haven't shared here yet so I am going to try to work really hard on getting back on the blogging bandwagon and photo sharing.
First up, a new Fairy's Love Note that I call Paris Poppies:
If you haven't seen me post about these before, I will explain what they are. Fairy's Love Notes are heart shaped velvet sachets filled with lavendar. I embellish them with ribbonwork flowers and bits of vintage goodness.
For this flower I used a mixture of pearl stamens in cream and blue in the center of one of my ribbonwork flowers. I think this color of ribbon, called Abalone, might be my very favorite!
Each Love Note has an attached fabric tag book with mulberry paper pages inside. The thought there is that you can give the Love Note as a gift to someone special and write a special sentiment inside. The tag book has a velvet cord attached to it so that when you pull it it draws the book closed. This Love Note has a gorgeous blue irredescent rhinestone button at the end of the pull string. The front of the tag book is embellished with a vintage image of the Eifel Tower printed on fabric.
I paticularly love the cream ribbon on this one. I salvaged it from a very old baby bonnet that was a little too loved to save as it was.
Many of the items offered at Fairy Davis Fancy Goods are wedding themed items. One of my personal favorites is the ribbon wrapped silk dupioni pillow. I offer these with colored ribbons but I think the white on white is my favorite.
The pillow is tufted with a vintage button on the back. Most of the vintage buttons in my collection are one of a kind (at least in my collection) so each pillow has a different vintage button making it one of a kind.
The front of each pillow is embellished with two of my signature ribbon flowers, each with two ribbon leaves, and a silk cording stem.
For the centers of the flowers, I combined vintage tiny pearl stamens with new large pearl stamens and Swarovski Crystals.
I really love the extra sparkle and elegance the crystals add to the flowers.
I have been slacking on posting. I really did mean to be better about it, but well, old habits die hard. I have been working like a crafting fiend trying to create items for my Etsy shop, for Candid Gifts, and for my first ever craft show coming way too quick in April. I am in a panic!
I have a ton of pictures of things to share but honnestly have barely had enough time to get them in my shop, let alone post them here. Somedays I swear that my life is stuck in fast forward mode.
The first project up that I want to share is one of my Fairy's Love Notes, which are heart shaped sachets with an attached mini tag book.
This paticular one has blue roses that are made from vintage blanket binding. The large shabby beige bow is also vintage blanket binding.
The tag book has a reprint of a vintage image (From Fairy Davis Paper Goods) on muslin which has been embellished with petitie seed beads. The pull cord on the tag book has a blue cobalt vintage glass button.
I took this one to Candid Gifts and it sold right away. I have heard from the purchaser that she gave it to her ailing grandmother who absolutely loved it!
Here is another of the heart shaped sachets with ribbon flowers that I am offering in my Etsy and Lollishops. I should have this one and a few others listed by the end of the weekend.
"Heart shaped lavender filled sachet with attached mini scrapbook. Sachet is embellished with ribbon flowers and leaves, vintage buttons, vintage lace, and vintage fabric."
Here is a little sample of something I have been working on for my Fairy Davis Fancy Goods Etsy shop and my Fairy Davis Fancy Goods Lollishop as well as Candid Gifts and a handful of local events I will be participating in this year.
I calling these Fairy's Love Notes. They are lavender filled sachets that are embellished with ribbon flowers, bits of vintage treasures, and a tag book with mulberry paper pages. They are perfect for gift giving enabling you to write a special message to the recipient while giving them something lovely to treasure. I think they would make lovely gifts for bridesmaids, mothers (Mother's day will be here before you know it!), birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Each one is unique and won't be duplicated exactly.
If I get some good sunny days to take more photos, I should begin adding these to my shops by the weekend.
Here is a little something I have been working on lately, these fun little shabby gift tins. Each is painted and distressed and then sealed with a protective coat. The lids are decorated with a combination of ribbonwork flowers and leaves, vintage items, lace, and assorted embellishemnts.
The roses on this tin were made from vintage blanket binding.
