I wanted to send out a quick thank you to awesome team at Scrapbook Generation for an awesome weekend. It is always such a pleasure to get to visit their store and offer classes there. It was amazing to have so many familiar faces in my classes from the last time I visited there!
I always mean to take pictures of the classes and share everyone's finished projects but I always forget! I think I just get so wrapped up in teaching, sharing, and chatting with everyone that stopping to take a photo is usually the last thing I think of. This time I was a little better and grabbed a few photos to share on Twitter with my phone. I thought I would share here for a quick weekend re-cap.
I arrived Friday afternoon at Scrapbook Generation and got all set up for Friday evening's class. If you happen to find your self in Springfield, MO you really need to plan a visit to this store. Soon they will be preparing to make the move next door into a larger space. It is already a large store packed full of great products. I can not wait to see the new space, especially the larger classroom! When you hear so much about businesses in the scrap industry struggling, it is awesome to hear about one thriving and growing. One visit and you will understand why they are.
On Friday evening we created a decor piece on a artist canvas. I forgot to take photos during that class. Everyone's canvases turned out so pretty!
On Saturday we did the Vintage Glimmer Tag Book which had lots of fun pieces, parts, and techniques. That is the project everyone in the photo above is working on. At this point they were doing some watercolor painting with Glimmer Mist.
I snatched this photo from Scrapbook Generation's blog. I normally try to hide when Debbie (one of the owners) comes by with her camera. I am terrible about having my picture taken! She got me joking about sucking in my gut!
One of the great perks of teaching at Scrapbook Generation is that it is my hometown where my family still lives. I get to go and visit family, teach at an awesome store, and squeeze in a few hometown favorites. Saturday night's dinner was a trip to Mexican Villa for a burrito enchilada style. oh my. I can't even describe how good it is!
My other must-have is Cashew Chicken. Even though your local Chinese food place may have something called Cashew Chicken it is not Springfield style Cashew Chicken. It is something that was created in Springfield and not available outside of the area. For reasons I can not understand, you can't even get it in the St. Louis area, a mere 3.5 hours away! On my way out of town on Sunday I drove through and grabbed some to take back home. I wasn't going to eat any until I got further down the road. . .
which turned out to only be a couple of blocks. I spotted a drive through Starbucks and decided to give in to peer pressure and try to a drink that a friend thought I would like. I am not a coffee or tea drinker so I have never had any desire to go to a Starbucks. Last week I tweeted a photo of my first drink ever from a Starbucks, a cup of ice water. I got a flurry of suggestions of what to try so I gave in and drove through. I got the Iced Passion Tea Lemonade (half sweet). Yeah so now I am a Starbucks fanatic too.
So anyway, after getting my drink I parked for a few minutes to drink some of it and try it out. The Cashew (which is the shortened name my family calls it) called my name and I gave in. I managed to save some for dinner later. It was a long drive knowing I had more Cashew waiting for me at the end of the trip!
And oh what a long drive! Thankfully I had lots of Glee songs cranking on my iPod to do some major, serious car singing to. Now before you chastise me for photographing and tweeting while driving down the highway at 80 mph, this shot was when traffic came to an absolute standstill in the middle of no where for no reason. It lasted for about a mile, really, for no reason. Suddenly it cleared and we were all moving again. weird.
Okay, so here is the best sight of the trip, my sweet little yellow house and my sweet little family inside. Even though it was a great trip that I really enjoyed, getting back here was the best part. There is something so sweet about pulling into my driveway and being home once again.
