Tattered Angels Educator: Joy Mini Album

I am excited to share with you photos of a new class I am offering!  This one features lots of fun Tattered Angels products and techniques along with some really fun new Prima products. The first offering of this class is June 11th at Scrapbook Generation in Springfield, MO.  I think there are only a few seats left so if you are hoping  to attend, you should call the store right away to reserve your spot. For my St. Louis For Keeps Sake friends, you can probably expect to see this class offered in July.  I will let you know as soon as I know for sure! Not in Springfield or St. Louis but would love to take a class from me?  I would love to come to you!  Just ask your store owner to contact me. ----------------------------------------

On a personal note: Ten sweet years. . .

I don't normally post much here on a personal level but today I want to make a little exception and share a little personal something. . .

Ten years ago today I made a special vow to this man and I have been so thankful each and every day since to have him in my life.  His love and support have filled me with joys that I never knew existed.  I find myself still feeling that rush when I look into his eyes just as I did on that very first blind date 11 years ago.  I am so blessed.

Classroom News: Paper Asters Tutorial

The tutorial for the paper Asters has been added to the online classroom!  I am in the process of editing the photos for the stem caps and leaves and should have those posted within the next few days!

From my studio: What I have been up to-

Don't tell on me, but I just had to share a little sneak peek from my class.  I have been working so hard on this class lately and am so excited about all that is included.  If all goes as expected, the class should be online in late June or early July.  As soon as I have the official release date I will let you all know.

Classroom News: Paper Marigolds Tutorial

The tutorial for making paper marigolds in now live in my online classroom.  In addition to this tutorial, I also added on for wire stems to demonstrate how I create my stems.  You can also see what tutorials are coming soon since I have added a photo for each one that I am working on.  I will continue to add them over the next week or so until I have them all posted.

Trash to Treasure: Vintage Shabby Mirror

I am sharing this today over on the Glitz Designs blog and wanted to share it here with you as well. -----

  One of my favorite things to do in papercrafting is to take something not so pretty and give it new life using scrapbook products.  I have had this ugly mirror in my stash for a while just waiting for the perfect paper to come along.  When I first saw Glitz's Vintage Love collection, I knew I had found the right paper for this mirror!

   

I began by covering the mirror with Stripe from the collection.  I added Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to the edges and then stamped with the ink on the mirror randomly using the script stamp from the Distressing Stamp Set.  

I accented the mirror with the heart diecut shape from the Vintage Image Whatnots and a few random pink Frosting stones. For additional accents, I created canvas flowers from assorted papers from the collection as well as a few scraps from the Vintage Love Paper Layers set combined with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Sticky Back Canvas.  (You can see Claudine demonstrate this technique in this video on You Tube.) Because the paper from the Paper Layers collection is very thin, I had a slight bit of residual stickiness after finishing the transfer.  To remedy that, I dusted those flowers lightly with white Perfect Pearls which gave them a nice subtle sparkle. To finish off the flowers and give them a bit of a worn and vintage feel, I frayed them slightly and brushed a bit of distress ink onto the edges.

Hey everyone!  I have updated the class information pages for For Keeps Sake St. Louis and Scrapbook Springfield Mo with sample images and class descriptions. I will be teaching two classes and doing a demo at Scrapbook Generation in Springfield MO June 11-12, 2010.
