For the last of my four project for BasicGrey for CHA, I made a doll case using Lemonade. I absolutely love ladybugs and bumble bees, so of course when I saw this paper I was giddy with excitement since it featured both! As I looked at it I kept thinking about how fun it was that the paper included a few of my favorite things. . . which of course got me to singing the song from The Sound of Music. Out of that came this doll case, which features a few of my favorite things.
To build the case, I used two paperboard trays from a Creative Imaginations Bare Elements Train Case. I covered the inside of each space and the outside with assorted papers from the Lemonade collection. I inked all the edges to give it all an aged look. I added hinges, a handle, and a clasp to create a doll case, kind of like the ones that they used to make for fashion dolls like Barbie and Tammy. (What? You don't know about the Tammy doll?)
I filled each of the cubbies with a photo and a banner about some of my favorite things. I printed my photos on flat cardstock so that they would have a more muted look. Each photo was matted on cardstock and mounted in its space on chipboard stand to make it stand out and float in its space. You can't tell in the photo, but the banners are adhered to the photos with pop dots to make the stand out. The center is curved out, raising it out even further. Each banner also has cardstock sticker flowers, 3D stickers, and glazed brads.
For the other side, I wrote out my favorite part of the song on one of the solid pattern papers and embellished it with a ladybug Woolies. I layerd it onto a piece of felt and stitched around the edges. I trimmed the felt with my pinking sheers. I adhered that piece to on of the fabulous new sheer Take Note Journaling pieces. All of that is adhered to the inside of the box with more pop dots. I have a serious thing for pop dots. In the front I sanded and inked a chipboard birdy and adhered it with a chipboard stand.
The outside edges of the box were edged with cardstock border stickers which were embellished with Bling It gems. The front of the box also has a super cute strawberry bling sticker. On the corners of the box I added metal corners that I had in my stash.
Okay, there you have it! Now back to my regular crafting and gardening periodic posts . . .
