A little Offbeat-

For Offbeat I was really inpired to make something fun with a kitchen theme and play up the fun fruit and veggies in the papers.  I ened up converting this desk organizer into a kitchen organizer.  I included a notebook (a regular composition book that I cut down to fit) for a shopping list and a section for coupons.

Where did I leave off? BasicGrey Euphoria

I slacked yesterday in posting, I had a bad phone call that kind of turned my day upside down and made me not want to do much but crawl in a hole and hide.  Let me just say, the state tax system. . . well, never mind. On to better things, playing with paper. So here is another piece I did for BasicGrey's booth, it features Euphoria.  Euphoria was actually released a bit before the show, but because it hadn't been at a show, we did samples of it.  For my sample, I altered a wooden box with hinged lid that I picked up at TJ Max.  I chose several of the papers at were monochromatic with subtle patterns and covered the box with them. I used a punch by Martha Stewart to add a lace like effect to several of the layers.  I cut a frame from chipboard and added it to the top of the box. To embellish the box lid, I added layers of flower stickers from the coordinating sticker elements sheet.  I coated each with Glossy Accents to the give them an epoxy like finish.  This allowed me to layer and overlap with out the pieces getting flat and stuck together.  The Glossy Accents also made the stickers thicker and more durable to use as dimensional elements.  For a little sparkle here and there, I added a dollop to the flower centers.

A mini CHA wrap-up~

Okay, just a quick CHA wrap up from me and then I will go back to sharing project photos. . . Here is my favorite Pink Paislee sales girl, Anna.  I loved that almost every time I told someone she was my daughter I got the "no way do you look old enough to be her mom" comment.  LOVED THAT!  I gave Anna strict orders to tell everyone we were sisters all weekend, but I eneded up telling on myself several times. So even though Anna scraps a little, she really has no idea about the size of the industry.  I knew the show would totally blow her mind.  I think she gasped out loud when we first hit the show room floor.  I had to tell her several times that this was the "small" show.  She couldn't even imagine what California is like.

Anyway, Anna and I went and worked the Pink Paislee booth along with Holly (the product designer), her mom Cyndi, Rebecca and Barry (the owners).  One of the dt gals, Tina came and helped us out for lunches and Jill from the Scrappy Gourmet worked the make and takes.  It was exhausting but fun.  I love meeting all of the store owners and hearing about scrapbooking and customers in their stores.  It is amazing how it all differs from store to store. I got a chance to catch up with several friends while at the show, so many people I just think the world of.  Despite heading to the show with a brand new camera, I actually took very few photos.  Sometimes I think that is okay though, because I tend to get lost taking in expiriences through my camera rather than just expiriencing them.  I did get a shot with Stacy.  I got to visit with her just a bit and talk about Big Picture stuff (still pinching myself over that!!).

On Sunday we skipped out of the show by mid-day and went into the city.  The EL is a completely different expirience than the Metro in St Louis.  Completely different sights, sounds, and um, well, smells.  I will say though that Chicago's mass transit makes it super easy to get around.

So we took the EL and then a bus to Navy Pier.  I had never been before.  It was very neat.  We passed on riding the big farris wheel and opted for photos instead.  I edited photos to share and put them on Photo Bucket. . . but now that I am at work and trying to post them, they aren't there.  You will just have to trust me that we went and enjoyed.

Okay, so then on Monday. . . insert the music of a chior of angels singing here. . . we went to Ikea.  Oh my, pure bliss.  We don't have a store in St Louis so even though I had heard of the magic and wonder of Ikea, I had never been.  For a girl who loves organization, it was just pure bliss for me.  Anna got a ton of shopping done for her dorm room and I got and few little fun things along with a new rolling chair for my scrap room.

I had to include this one of Holly, posting online and rubbing her iPhone in my non-iPhone having nose.  She swore that by the end of the trip I would go get one, I am still wanting but not caving yet.. . . yet. Anyway, we had a great time.  Got to hang with tons of great friends, see some great products, sell some great products, and enjoy a little down time. Back to project sharing tomorrow!

BasicGrey Eva

Have you looked at BasicGrey's Eva line yet?  If not, you should check it out!  It is full of gorgeous pinks and greens in rich shades with both delicate and bold patterns.  It is one of my favorites from this release. For this project, I used a large wooden decor box with lid that I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  I recovered the outside surfaces with a mix of papers from the collection.  I added a chip tag that I embellished with fibers, a flower, a fun dangle with mini keys, and a vintage button with black crystals on it.

BasicGrey Urban Prairie, part 2

Checking in today to share another project I made with BasicGrey's new Urban Prairie line.  For this project I started with a gift container I picked up for a couple of bucks at TJ Maxx.  For the eyelet lace I used a Martha Stewart punch from Michaels.

BasicGrey ' s Urban Prairie-

Okay, now that I have the new blog up and running, I can get back to the business of sharing more projects that I made for CHA. First up, this shadowbox frame featuring BasicGrey's Urban Prairie line.  Can I just say that I love this line more than words can describe?  Seriously, when I opened the box and saw it, I gasped out loud.  It is just too darn cute!  I have plans to make lots of fun things for Emma's room with it.

Home!

I am home from CHA Chicago.  We got in about 7 last night and just crashed.  It was a great weekend but so tiring.  I have had the intention of getting caught up on things all day today but haven't seemed to have gotten anything done.  I have not even unpacked my clothes.  I need to get motivated and attempt to catch up on things, but just can't seem to.  After a long weekend of being on the go almost constantly, I am kind of enjoying doing pretty much nothing.

I have a ton of project photos to upload and share and photos from my trip, hopefully I will get to all of that soon.  In the meantime, here is a project I made for Pink Paislee featuring their Vintage Moon collection.  I used vintage buttons for all of the flower centers.  I covered the center of a Top Siders chipboard piece with paper and wrote my favorite quote on it.  I used the new rub-on alphabet to accentuate some of the words.

Soooo excited!

I am so excited that I can't even put it into words.  I am going to be teaching online with Big Picture Scrapbooking!   I am so excited!  Yeah, I know, I said that already, but, well, I can't think of anything else to say!  I really love writing class instructions and sharing my passion for making "stuff" and love the way the internet lets us reach far and wide to share that passion.  I just don't think there is a better place online for classes that Big Picture.  I can't believe that I am going to be a part of it! You may remember two years ago that I posted that I was going to join Big Picture. . . unfortunately we had an issue with sourcing the products I planned to use and got stalled on the progress.  Then we had a fire in our house that set most of everything in our lives on its side for a while.  In the process, my class in development went into a fatal stall. From there I ended up owning my own kit/class site for about a year.  It reinforced that I really love creating projects and sharing how to make them.  It also reinforced that owning a site, a store, and all of its administrative tasks are a giant bear that take up all of your time.  In the process, you don't end up with any time left to create.  I ended up closing my site a couple of months ago.  While it was a big relief to free up so much of my time, I found I missed writing up classes and sharing how to create the projects I make. So, long story short, I contacted Stacy and asked if I could revisit being a part of BPS and she said yes!  I am so excited about the project I have planned for the first class and can not wait to get it all put together and out there!  Of course I will share here as soon as everything is ready to go so stay tuned!

Pink Paislee: Renew Your Passions Daily

Today I want to share with you a shadowbox project I made using Pink Paislee's new Pop Fashion collection and featuring that photo I shared a couple of days ago.  I just love how this turned out.  The phrase is from one of the new rub-on sheets and seemed so perfect for the photo.  The photo and embellishments are all on a piece of round acrylic which is adhered with foam squares so that the whole piece hovers above the background.  The paper background was also dusted with fine glitter for a little added sparkle.
