I just posted this project over at the Pink Paislee blog and of course wanted to share it here.  I wanted to make a mini book that I could journal in, keep favorite garden photos in, etc.  This sheer 3-ring binder from Maya Road was perfect since the binding will allow me to add and rearrange my inside content. I consider this project a "work in progress" kind of book.  I will probably just tinker with it here and there as inspiration strikes and when I need a diversion from something else.  I love projects like this, ones that I don't feel the need to "finish".  

Komen Race for the Cure

I am really excited to share that I have signed up to participate in the Komen Race for the Cure in St Louis June 21st.  In the past I have contributed but have never participated in the walk.  I am really looking forward to it and doing a little something to help raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. I am dedicating my participation to the memory of David's beloved grandmother, Ruby and to our dear friend Rhonda who fought the battle and won. No place I would rather be. . .

than my sweet little house with my dearly loved family inside.  I thought this will be a fun little thing to make to honor my beloved bungalow. Papers/die cuts are by Pink Paislee, the box is from Cosmo Cricket, posies are from Doodlebug, and all adhesive is Therm O Web.  I changed a photo of my house into an illustration using PhotoShop.  I adhered it to the inside of the box using adhesive foam strips to add dimension.

How cool!

I was on the Scrapbook Retailer Magazine site just a while ago and happened to notice something that looked familiar. . . it was the "Jake's Room" magnetic memo board I made for BasicGrey using the Obscure line.  A couple of months ago they ran an article about crafting for teens and featured several BG products.  I was super thrilled that BG selected several of my projects for that feature, including the memo board.  I am so thrilled to see it online now.

This week-

I seem to be in kind of a weekly re-cap mode lately here on the blog. For those who are just riveted by my super fascinating life (ha ha), I give you this week's review. . .

Anna and Emma headed off to the mall this week to make a Build-A-Bear friend for Emma. Emma is super attached to her new rain boots that Sissy got her for her birthday. She wants to wear them every where, rain or no rain. When Sissy got new rain boots too, Emma seemed to think they should both wear their boots to the mall.

Anna graduated from high school this week. She graduated Magna Cum Laude, in the top 3% of her class. We haven't gotten her official rank yet, but she was in the top 20 out of a class of over 600. We are so proud of her, she has worked very hard.

Jacob also had a graduation this week, from the 8th grade. We are thrilled that he also finished the year on the honor roll.

I can't seem to post lately without sharing a little from my garden. This week the climbing miniature roses that are winding up onto my porch rails have begun blooming. There must be a thousand delicate tiny pink buds.

The peonies have also started blooming. I have several varieties. This one is one of my favorites. It is such a beautiful mix of soft pink and cream. I wish they would last all season.

The aftermath. . .

I *think* I am finally done with my big Cricut assignment. I could have done more, would have liked to have done more, but I think I am going to call it done and send in what I have. I am not sure if I can share photos of the projects yet. I wish I could because a couple of them I really love. I should know soon. So here is what I am left with to tackle, a scrap room that is in complete and udder chaos. I feel uneasy just looking at it. This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are stacks and piles of papers and alterable goods all over the floor. I am normally so much more tidy as I work but something happened this weekend that caused my good habits to fail. Ugh. Where to start cleaning? Right now I have my back to it all since I am at the computer. If I don't turn around I am okay!!

Prom-

I promised my mom I would post a picture of Anna and her date (Brent) from before prom yesterday. Anna reports that she had a great time.

This week-

I didn't really get to scrap much, I was just too busy with online stuff.  I miss it, I need to get back to it, it feels like it has been forever since I created anything. I did get a ton of work done in the garden this week though. I got all of my pots planted, including the old vintage wash tub I added to the front bed.  My hostas are going crazy!  I can't believe how big and full they are. The honeysuckle I have growing over the arbor by the back gate is in full bloom.  We have already seen hummingbirds there.  I never seem to have my camera with me when they are there. The dogwoods in our front yard are also in bloom.  They are so pretty against the yellow of the house. This past week we also got a new car, a dark blue Malibu.  Poor David, he got my old car and I took the new one.  I am not sure why, but Emma felt the need to hug it.

No pretty pictures to share today. . .

I *think* I am finally over my cold, or at least past the really cruddy part.  Of course in perfect timing, I am having stomach issues, I swear it is always something. I have a little scrappy toot that I want to share.  I really can't share all of the details, but what I can say is very cool.  I got a call from a representative from a very well known craft manufacterer yesterday asking me to do some work for them to be featured on a television/internet piece they are going to be doing.  I will be doing home decor pieces for them.  I am super excited about the project they are doing and that they asked me to be a part of it.  I will share more when I know I can. In other news, I would like mention that a site I am involved with, FairyDavis.com is finally open for business.  I think it is a really neat concept and I hope something that will inspire anyone who loves vintage goodies.  Fairy Davis specializes in high resolution vintage images, paper goods, and ephemera by download.  In addition to images of actual vintage items, the store also has digitally created items for use in paper and digi scrapping.  If you love old shabby stuff, I hope you will check it out. t
