Prima Paintables!

I really love the Paintables papers by Prima. I feel like such an artist when I play with them. For this one, I adhered it to a junk frame I picked up at Hobby Lobby and then went to work coloring it using chalks and markers. I love the soft and bold contrast the two. I embellished areas with Stickles for a little sparkle and then inked the edges. I added a rub-on by Daisy D's for the phrase. The photo is from a super fun family photo session we had with Holly at the Jewel Box in St Louis. Since we did these to use as gifts for Christmas I had to hold back on sharing them. We really love how they turned out. I am sure you will be seeing many more of them in more projects to come.

Sneak Peek and a confession-

I confess, I am a bad blogger. I don't mean to be. I have friends who are great at it, they post every day and I admire them for it. I would like to be better, really, but each day seems to get away from me before I get it done. I guess there is just too much on my daily to-do list and too few hours. Add in a bad gallbladder that is seriously kicking my tail and I am failing at marking anything off of that list. So here I am, on a vacation day from work and finally posting! I actually even got to do scrappy stuff today so despite yet another bad gallbladder day, a pretty good day all in all. (Hey, who needs to eat? Food and the digestive process is way over rated. I am thinking now it is better to just skip it all together and spend the time scrapping.) Anyway, in January, I am teaching what I think is a really fun class at For Keeps Sake (in St Louis). It is a workshop where we will complete three fun decor projects using the Noteworthy line from Making Memories. What I worked on today was the fourth project for the class. Everyone who takes the class is going home with Heart In Hand style instructions for a fourth project that is made completely from the scrap and leftover product from the class. I think it is a fun idea and I hope everyone will like it. It is a mini book with a joy theme. Here is a quick sneak peek. . . If you are in my area I hope you will think about joining me for the class. I think it will be a ton of fun. I have really missed teaching locally and am really looking forward to this class which is my first one in a very long time. Christmas Follow Up

I hope everyone else had an enjoyable holiday. Yesterday was pretty special at our house. It was nice to be in our home for Christmas after spending last year's in the temporary house. Most importantly, all three kids were together on Christmas morning for the first time. It might have been viewed differently by Anna and Jacob since the reason they were at our house is because their father is serving in Iraq.

For me though, to see Emma understanding what was going on, and to see her excitement over Santa Claus was really special. She was very happy to see that Santa brought her the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and a stuffed giraffe that she had asked for. She got lots of other toys and goodies from Mommy and Daddy, and Grandma, Pop, Uncle Jason and Aunt Melissa. So much so that I had a hard time getting her to go to bed. So far one of the top favorites has to be the Cooties game. Such a simple and inexpensive toy, and it gets the most playtime.

Since the presents were given out last night, it is okay to share some pics. We had family pictures taken and hired one of Tammy's friends to be the photographer. Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all.

It has been a while since we have posted. Everyone is doing good. Emma is hyped up on M&Ms, and taking a bath right now. Presents are being wrapped by Anna and Tammy. Weather report says 50 degrees and sunny tomorrow. Perfect Christmas weather.

I ' m teaching in St Louis again-

If you live in the St Louis area and are interested, I am back to teaching locally at For Keeps Sake on Lemay Ferry Road.  You can keep track of what I will be offering by clicking at the tab at the top of the page that says "teaching schedule". In January, my class is a workshop featuring products from Making Memories' Noteworthy line.  In the workshop, students will make three fun decor projects and will take home instructions for a fourth.  Space is limited so sign up soon by calling the store.

It is starting to look a lot like Christmas-

We had snow this past weekend.  The kids had a blast getting out and playing.  Emma was so excited when she woke up and saw the snow.  She immediately wanted to go out in it.  Sissy and Jacob helped her build a snowman that they named "Bob".  Unfortunately, they built Bob on the sunny side of the yard and by afternoon, but was a little melty. On Sunday evening we finally got the tree up.  I think my favorite part of having the tree up is sitting in the living room with nothing but the tree lights on and enjoying some good music.  I couldn't help but think about how different last Christmas was.  It is truly good to be home.

Prima embossed chipboard book-

  Have you seen the Prima embossed chipboard books?  If not you have to check them out.  They are so fun to play with.  For the cover on this one, I painted it first.  After the paint was dry, I rubbed on different chalk ink colors with a felt pad.  After the ink was all dry I lightly sanded the top of some of the embossed areas to remove the ink and bring back the white paint.  I also cut out the frame opening on the cover and embellished it with some other Prima goodies. The inside pages are all covered with papers from the Prima Steel Toe Mary Jane line.  The rub-ons on the inside are Daisy D's and Jenni Bowlin and have been colored with markers. I plan to fill the inside with photos from Anna's senior pictures.

My virtual holiday gift for Holly-

We are a virtual kind of world you know, so why not virtual gifts?  This one goes out to Holly, my family's personal photog. Last night Anna and I were at Target doing a little Christmas shopping when we came across this: I tried taking a picture of it in the store with my camera phone but it was awful!  Thank goodness Target.com had it online.  It is just too funny not to share!! It is the "I Can Be. . . A Baby Photographer" Barbie.  Of course immediately we thought of our favorite photographer  Holly and wondered why she doesn't show up at shoots dressed like this.  C'mon Holly, stiletto heels, baby doll tees, and mini skirts!!  I think that is even an example of her work on her tee shirt.  You probably get some of those made up at Cafe Press. . .   I know you talked about getting knee pads for shoots, but I think it would ruin this look.  Oh and hey, a purple camera, how cool is that?  And a seriously monster tripod.  That is the equipment of a pro! We laughed so hard at the thought of buying this and sending it to you Holly but decided to go the virtual route.  I hope you enjoy!

Pink Paislee!

I am so excited to tell you about a new scrap company in the works. . . Pink Paislee. My good friends Rebecca Cross (you may know her as the owner of Create My Keepsake) has made the official announcement that she is launching a brand new company, Pink Paislee. To make it even better, my good friend Holly McCaig is the product designer! You may remember Holly previously designed digital scrap products. I have loved her work for so long and am just over the moon crazy excited that she will be designing traditional scrap products. I am so thrilled at what these two amazing ladies are going to do.
